Overcome Reading Challenges

Eight Strategies to Overcome Reading Challenges

Let me ask you . . . have you ever read a book with learners . . . and when you engaged learners in a book discussion . . . they seem to not understand or remember anything that you read or discussed? Or what about those learners who read the text, but can’t recall any information?
I am sharing my research based “Eight Strategies to Overcome Comprehension Challenges” resource. These strategies will activate your learners’ cognitive abilities and develop critical thinking skills, so your students will be more engaged during discussion. Additionally, when the story is over, your learners will remember what was read.
When these strategies are embedded in instruction, your learners will experience more success understanding text by interacting and engaging at various cognitive levels. The end result will be an increase in learning and achievement for your learners.
So check out these “Eight Strategies to Overcome Comprehension Challenges”, implement these strategies, check my YouTube channel for model lessons, and be ready to hear and see success from your learners!

These eight comprehension strategies engage the student’s mind in metacognition and self-reflection with the text.
As a result, this engagement allows the student to interact with the text at a higher level of thinking.
When these purposeful interactions are made, students better understand and remember the text he/she read.
