Teacher Education: Breaking News!!
Hey Friends! Dr. Annette here!! Many of you have been following me on my educational journey for many years, a couple years, or even just a few days. Well, today, I have some major BREAKING NEWS!!! Or as my students share breaking news: Announcements, announcements, announcements!
Before I share this exciting news, I need to share a little backstory.
For those of you who may not know me, I am Dr. Annette Durbin, a National Board Certificated Teacher for more than 30+ years with teaching experience in all grades, Preschool to 6 grade. I’ve taught in public and private school settings, and even took time to homeschool my own children for a few years. I am a mentor, digital content and course creator, and author, who loves family time, trips, game nights, and making a difference in my community.
Teacher Education: Beginning The Digital Teacher Blog
Additionally, you may know, in 2018, I began my online journey with “The Digital Teacher Blog”. I’ve had the amazing opportunity to share educational tips and resources to support thousands of teachers and parents overcome educational challenges their learners may experience. At the time I began sharing my work online, I was teaching a third and fourth grade multiage class focusing on project based learning, technology, and really digging into personalized learning. I absolutely love teaching this way and watching my motivated students engage in their learning. Although my website had a catchy name, at that time, it was a great place for me to share my work and connect with other like minded teachers; however, over the years, I realized this name had a narrow focus on technology and no longer represents the bigger picture of my work. Read more about my beginnings.
Over the years, my online work has expanded and encompasses so much more in education. Besides the technology and project based learning, I’ve been working more closely mentoring and training educators and creating resources to support educators in curriculum, instruction, and classroom management. I began to struggle with my current website name and alignment with my vision and mission. Read more about my early days.
Teacher Education: Rebranding
So, today I want to talk about change . . . some changes I have been really thinking and praying about for several months, possibly years when I really think about this. The past several weeks, my team, business coach, and I have been examining my education business mission and vision, thinking about where we’ve been, what we’re doing in the present, and where we’d like to go in the future to support and collaborate with educators.
As you can see, during this process, my thoughts turned into conversations with my team and decisions were made. As a result of this reflection, I feel it is time to rebrand the name to better represent the work I do that aligns with the education vision, mission, and goals. We really feel this new brand name better represents my work in education.
Teacher Education: Vision and Mission Aligned
Today I have some exciting news I want to share with you, my family, friends, and colleagues, some information about my online professional educational work.
Drum roll . . . I am rebranding my educational business with a new name and am happy to announce the new name is “Blue Ribbon Teacher“!
As you can see in my backstory, this new brand name is more inclusive of my educational work, vision, mission, and goals. The new website is https://blueribbonteacher.com. You’ll be able to find the same great information at the new website along with additional educational resources that have led us to this rebranding stage. You should know that the previous digital content on my website, YouTube, and Store will maintain the Digital Teacher Blog name; however, all new content will be branded Blue Ribbon Teacher
Teacher Education: Core Mission
I want you to know that we are embracing this fine-tuned name change, but the core mission remains unchanged – to build a community of educators and support the work you do everyday in the classroom with digital resources, courses, coaching, and community; however, with this new name, our mission and vision are more aligned with the work I do in education and it now stages us to reach higher goals.
So, I would like to welcome you to my new education website, Blue Ribbon Teacher! We are a community of educators who work together to create the best learning environment for our learners by establishing educational excellence, empowering educators to create educational experiences for students to excel in learning and achievement.
